I wanted to post a few pictures of my father's 1964 Morgan 4/4 1500 Competition.
He bought this car in boxes in 1976. It took him roughly 3 years to perform a complete ground up restoration.
He rebuilt the body tube and restored and reassembled the chassis and running gear. The transmission was full of broken metal and he replaced it with a 1967 Cortina semi close ratio gear box. He rebuilt the motor a second time about 20 years ago and replicated a 1500 Holbay spec motor.
Everything from Lotus rod, roller rockers, SVO cam, nearly the largest intake and exhaust valves you cold put in the 1500 head, aluminum flywheel and its original weber (rejetted and tuned for the build) and it's original competition header made for ridiculously fierce and fast original powered 1500 series V Morgan!
It has served my father and I well. He still loves this car. It has been in his stable alongside the likes of some of his former well loved sports cars including a Maserati Bora, a 365GT 2+2, and a few 911's. No matter what he refuses to part with the Morgan.
He moved from NY to Florida in 2004 and took the Morgan with him. He recently decided to bring the car back home to upstate NY with me and to bring he to the 2017 3/4 Club Autumn Mog. He just refreshed the motor this past year from the crankshaft out chasing a rear main leak. The car is super fast fresh and fun.
Right now our little Morgan is hanging around with 4 other 4/4's and many other siblings at Morgan Motors of New England.
