What's a few leaks among friends anyway?....
Many of us are already dealing with some degree of incontinence,
the remainder of you aren't far behind!.....

Hi Bert, I have another question about the interior on my 1970 4/4...the inner door sills are covered with a nice piece of thick black leather & for the most part is glued in place, there is also a 'trim strip' (black & chrome plastic piece) that runs the length of the leather at the top of the sill & is nailed in place...is that plastic trim strip an original piece? It looks somewhat tacky & typically American...almost like what would be used on the doors of an American car to prevent door dents!
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Ron, great to hear from you!
In view of what you describe, your car seems to have been altered in this area.
I can unequivocally state that no "plastic product" ever originally existed there.
I think you are referring to the threshold plate at the entry door sill region.
The plate utilized by the factory for your car is stamped out of thin aluminum.
The plate does not have any 'Morgan' script embossed/debossed embellishments.
Plates are tacked on with small headed nails tacked in a side by side manner
at approx. 3 1/2" spacing in 8 areas and 1 nail at the front at spacing of 2 1/2" from the
first pair. There are a total of 17 nails per side,
Care should be taken so as not to indent the plates to deeply by too vigorous hammering.
I've attached photos pertaining to my car, (embarrassingly dusty at the moment)
that should help to explain things. I know that you want your car to reflect an original
factory appearance and I'll be very pleased to help out with that in mind, any time, in any way I can.
Best regards to you and yours, send us photos when you are ready....

Bert, thank you so very much for the pics & descriptive words of the door sill area....you have made it perfectly clear how things should be. Someone installed a plastic black/chrome finishing strip on the inside of the sill plate on my car....I can now see that the black leather sill cover should run up & over the lip of the door sill & then the threshold plate on the exterior side of the sill (mine is missing). The Morgan is now stored with the rest of the collection & difficult to access as the cars are parked only inches apart. I might have some pics of the area that I took in the summer... if I do I will send them to you. Would you be ok with sending me your private email address...mine is: rjzer@sprynet.com
