Hello everyone, I'm new here and have a question. I make gear knobs for classic cars, and I need the thread size of the gear lever on Morgans.
Could any of you help me with this? Is it a UNF or UNC thread, and what size is it?
Thank you!

All depends on Model and Year!
Morgans using the Ford Type E gearbox and Type 9 box have an M10x1.5 thread (4/4's from the mid sixties onwards)
about 1 week and 3 days later...

Hello Edries,
The single most frequently encountered Morgan gear lever by far is the one fit to 2WD LT77 and R380 gearbox cars. They would be Rover Plus 8s from 1977 to 2004 (about 5500 units) and Rover Plus 4s from 1988 to 2000 (1200+ units..an offhand guess)
The Morgan Factory used to sell Burl Walnut gear knobs, (which matches a burl walnut dash many of these cars have) then supplied by the Range Rover division IIRC. These would match the mildly different shift patterns of the LT77/R380. (one having reverse down and to the right (R380) and the other having reverse up and to the left (LT77) Of course, they sold out in all markets and I haven't seen them for sale in 20 years.
Your primary watchpoint is the height of the knob. The one you show is too tall as there is doubt it will clear the dash. That was so bad that the Morgan Factory heated the lever shaft and bent it which causes the know/lever to turn in all sorts of directions. The savvy sorts have the knob removed, the shaft shortened and threaded, and end up with a shorter throw and a straightened shift.
Lorne
