My 1986 +4 with the Bosch unit had all of the problems you mentioned. Sometimes would start, often not, etc.,etc. Spent hours trying to figure it
out and countless $ at the shop. The car has a simple on/off switch fitted on the board behind the seats over the diff tunnel. This was fitted, at my request when I bought the
car new from the factory. Simple on/off with the removable red key.

Yes. Same happened to me Tom, on two cars. Forgive me, but the MMC chases cost. The problems that causes are part of the Morgan experience to this day.In this case, they
use battery much plastic in the electrical sett ups. Plastic is a non-conductor, cheap and melts with shorts. The iffy item they favour is common in the UK and will provide a good
connection, a bad connection or a bad connection. I prefer the second. (see below) After the second car failed, and so many other owners, I remove them as a matter course for
all Morgan prep. I changed to a much smarter metal cutoff switch, also below.

Do you use a straight battery cut off, or a master battery/alternator cutoff with 4 posts?
It might be a good idea to isolate the alternator as well off the same switch when the battery is shut off, otherwise the engine may still run, or the alternator might be damaged. This may require a change in the alternator wiring
It's always a surprise when the master battery cutoff is switched to off, but the engine still runs.
Which manufacture switch do you recommend?
